Elderly man rescued from Town of Burlington home due to fire

TOWN OF BURLINGTON (WITI) -- Officials in Racine County say a 73-year-old man had to be rescued from his home early Saturday morning, August 31st due to a fire.

It happened around 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival at the house, deputies observed smoke in the rear of the house. They made entry to the house, where they encountered dense smoke throughout the house.

Deputies made their way to the bedroom where they found the elderly man.

The deputies assisted in getting the man out of his house and to the care of rescue personnel. The man was treated on scene and later left with family members.

Fire personnel found an active fire in a back wall of the house and were able to extinguish it.

The initial investigation shows that the fire was a result of power lines that were damaged earlier in the day due to a storm.
