Bikers gear up for one last ride for Harley-Davidson's 110th

GREENFIELD (WITI) -- On Labor Day Monday, September 2nd, the Harley-Davidson 110th anniversary celebration continued, as bikers squeezed in an opportunity to gather as a group for one more ride. Bikers departed from Greenfield's House of Harley and rode to Miller Park.

Recognizing their work schedules would keep Mary Beth Hershey and her boyfriend, Jason Altenburg from arriving at Harley-Davidson's 110th anniversary celebration until Sunday, September 1st, or Day Five of the six-day party, the couple still had to make the trip.

"We work for a dealership, so we're excited to be here. We are catching the tail end of it, and so excited! We're glad to get up here and take advantage of as much as we can while we're here," Hershey said.

On Labor Day Monday, the couple was outside Greenfield's House of Harley, where they waited for the start of the event's last organized ride to Miller Park. 

"I’m so excited to actually come up here and see a Brewers game. This is my first time to actually see a real baseball game at a stadium, so I’m excited!" Hershey said.

Hershey was in good company, as the couple joined a couple dozen other riders as the group navigated city streets, soaking up what remains of the celebration.

"We had a wonderful ride here. Lots of fun. Lots of people on the roadways, waving, honking the horn and goosing the throttle a little bit to make it rumble. People love that rumble -- that Harley-Davidson potato, potato," Cain Finger said.

RoseMarie Tapper says she still loves that rumble, even with this last ride of the 110th being her first ride on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in more than 30 years!

"The police department did a wonderful job! The sheriffs do a wonderful job! And it’s just wonderful to do!" Tapper said.

It is interesting to note just how many people were already talking about making plans to attend Harley-Davidson's 115th anniversary celebration!
