Drumstick Dash returns for second year at new location

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A favorite Milwaukee Thanksgiving Day family tradition is back at a brand new location. The Second Annual Drumstick Dash, presented by Sendik’s Food Markets, will be hosted at Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, on Thursday, November 28 at 8:30 a.m.

The race is open to all ages and will benefit Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. In 2012, over two tons of food and more than $7,000 was donated to provide more than 35,000 meals to families struggling with hunger in eastern Wisconsin.

“We are excited to partner with the Milwaukee Brewers as our new host on the single largest running day in the country. We’re working on an exciting new course that will incorporate aspects of Miller Park,” said Jeff Graves, President of Vision Event Management. “We look forward to raising our goal to over 75,000 meals for the hungry in eastern Wisconsin this holiday season. In addition to our great charity partner, we are thrilled to have Sendik’s Food Markets back as the presenting sponsor,” Graves added.

Registration for adults and kids is now open at DrumstickDashMilwaukee.com. Nonperishable food donations will be collected at packet pick-up and race day. Monetary donations will be accepted prior to the event, at packet pick-up and on race day for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. For every $1 donated, Feeding America can provide five meals to someone in need.

“We’re very excited to be the charitable partner for the Second Annual Drumstick Dash,” said Bonnie Bellehumeur, President of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. “This event not only raises much needed food and funds for hunger relief in eastern Wisconsin but it also gives families struggling with hunger a reason to be hopeful this holiday season.”
