Man charged following armed robbery, sexual assault

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 19-year-old Xavier Wilkes of Milwaukee is facing two counts of armed robbery, two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of kidnapping. This, after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman and stole money from her and one other woman on Sunday night, August 18th.

According to the criminal complaint, Wilkes, along with several other males approached and entered an occupied vehicle that was parked in the 1400 block of S. 26th Street in the late hours of Sunday, August 18th. When the suspects entered the vehicle, one of the two female victims was sitting in the driver's seat.  Police say the second victim had exited the vehicle prior to the incident.

Upon entering the vehicle, Wilkes allegedly lifted his shirt and displayed what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband. Wilkes then removed $15 from the victim's wallet and handed it back to the suspects in the vehicle. During that time, Wilkes allegedly told the victim to perform a sexual act on him, but she refused.  Wilkes then order the victim to drive to a nearby gas station so they could buy some "blunts."

The complaint indicates that after a period of time, the victim's friend, whom she been waiting for while parked, returned to the vehicle. At that time, Wilkes allegedly took $40 from her and then escorted her, along with several other males, into an alley.

While in the alley, Wilkes and several of the suspects allegedly sexually assaulted the woman. While the sexual assault was occurring, the other female victim called 911.

When police arrived on the scene, the suspects fled on foot. However, both victim's were able to positively identify Wilkes in police photos.
