Drowning victim recovered from Center Lake in Kenosha Co.

SALEM (WITI) — Investigators recovered a body from Center Lake in the Town of Salem following reports of a missing swimmer Tuesday night, September 10th.

According to officials, Kenosha Dispatch received a call just before 3 p.m. regarding a 75-year-old man who went under the water and did not resurface. Kenosha County Dive Team was called in to assist along with other area agencies.

Preliminary reports indicate that the 75-year-old man from Trevor was out boating with family and friends on Center Lake when the incident occurred.

According to officials, the man decided to go swimming off the side of the boat, however, after entering the water he did not resurface.

Family and friends attempted to locate the victim in the water just prior to calling 911.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department confirms a body was recovered from Center Lake around midnight.

There were no signs of violence indicated and Mr. Routheaux’s body was turned over to the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office.
