Walworth Co. investigators work to solve cold case

WALWORTH CO. (WITI) -- The Walworth County Sheriff's Office and Walworth County Crime Stoppers are looking for the public's help to solve a cold case from 1982.

The details of the case are as follows:  On August 5, 1982, 34-year-old Barbara Nelson was abducted from her place of employment at the Mini Stop-N-Shop in the town of Albion, near Edgerton, in Dane County.  It is believed she was killed the following day. Her body was discovered on August 10, 1982, in a cornfield on Bray Road, about 3 miles east of Elkhorn, in Walworth County.

Witnesses described seeing an older blue or green pickup truck, and sketches were made of this vehicle. A 1961 Studebaker pickup truck closely resembles the vehicle described. Detectives from Dane County and Walworth County are jointly investigating this cold case homicide.
