Greenfield Fire Dept. gets donation from Max Siepert

GREENFIELD (WITI) -- He's a young man making a big difference in his community. On Monday, September 23rd, 11-year-old Max Siepert donated a bag of coins to the Greenfield Fire Department.

It was the second time in the last month that Max has donated cash. Just a couple of weeks ago, money he had saved up all summer was anonymously donated to the Greenfield Police Department.

After that initial act of generosity, Max was invited to talk about his experience on FOX6's Studio A. Those gathered in the FOX6 newsroom collected donations -- and presented Max with them. He then figured he would donate those to the fire department.

Max wanted to make these donations after learning about how first responders made a huge difference in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in New York City.

He told a FOX6 photojournalist on Monday that he's now recognized wherever he goes in his hometown -- whether it be school or the library.
