Milwaukee taxi cab company adds hybrids to its fleet

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- American United Tax Company announced plans on Wednesday, September 25th to add hybrid vehicles to its cab fleet. In particular, the first hybrids will be Toyota Prius taxi cabs.

Officials with American United say the move to hybrid is designed to aid both the environment as well as taxicab drivers. The Prius not only emits a fraction of the carbon emissions of an ordinary sedan, but it also significantly reduces fuel consumption. Slashing fuel consumption leads to additional income for taxicab drivers as their expenses are reduced.

American United plans to convert half of its fleet to hybrid vehicles by 2015.
