Four Wauwatosa West soccer players being called heroes

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- Four varsity soccer players from Wauwatosa West High School are being called heroes after responding to an emergency they saw on the way to their game Wednesday, September 25th.

The boys, Alex and Nick Stanisic, Alex Wimmer, and Sage Schram, saw a woman lying motionless in the street near 101st and North Ave. The students pulled over, called 911, and stayed with the woman while they waited for first responders.

The woman on the ground had just picked up her four-year-old child from the babysitter and put him into the car before she had a seizure. The boys took it upon themselves to calm the child, as well.

"It was a little scary. It had to be traumatizing for the kid, but we tried to talk him through it and let him know everything is going to be alright," said Schram.

The boys waited until paramedics arrived. They never left their names or mentioned why they were late for their game that evening.

Melissa, the babysitter of the woman's child, decided to track down the students.

"Kids need to know when they do something right and do something good in this world. They need to know that," said Melissa. "I am so worried about my children growing up in this world and when I see that, it gives me hope. It gives me faith."

On Friday, September 27th, the boys got a chance to meet the woman they helped. She called the four her "guardian angels."
