Gomez, Nelson solid in Crew's extra innings win over Mets

NEW YORK (WITI)-- Milwaukee Rookie Jimmy Nelson could not have asked for a better first MLB start. The righty went 5 innings pitched, allowing 1 hit and 1 earned run while fanning 4 in Saturday's extra innings win over the Mets. Nelson was given a no decision.

Carlos Gomez was the offensive leader for the Crew, going 4-5 with 2 RBIs. He also picked up his 24th homer of the year with a solo shot in the top of the 4th.

The Brewers led the Mets 2-1 until the bottom of the 9th when an Eric Young RBI single tied it at 2 and forced extras.

The Crew dominated in the top of the 10th scoring 2 runs from a Carlos Gomez single and a Yuni B single winning it 4-2 and taking a 3 game lead in the series.  The two finish out the 4 game set Sunday at 12:10 ET.
