Van strikes two people crossing street, flees the scene

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred just west of 12th and National on the city’s south side on Saturday, September 28th.

Investigators say shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, a GMC conversion van with a ladder rack on top struck two people as they were crossing the street. The driver of the van then fled westbound on National Ave.

One of the pedestrians died on the scene. The other is in critical condition at a hospital.

Officials say they are searching for the vehicle involved in this wreck. They say it should have front end damage.
