Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday to honor fallen firefighters

MADISON (WITI) -- Gov. Scott Walker ordered flags lowered to half-staff on Saturday, October 12th, as a mark of respect for Wisconsin firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty.  The tribute is in conjunction with the national remembrance ceremony, which occurred last week, honoring four fallen Wisconsin firefighters who died in 2012.

The Wisconsin firefighters who will be honored are:


    Last week, 81 fallen firefighters from across the nation were honored at the 32nd National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service at Emmitsburg, Maryland.  During the service, bronze plaques containing their names were added to the memorial located at the National Fire Academy.

    The Governor has issued an executive order to lower the flags at all buildings, grounds, and military installations of the State of Wisconsin beginning at sunrise on Saturday, October 12, 2013, and ending at sunset in honor of the fallen firefighters.
