Munoz waives preliminary hearing, date for plea deal set

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 21-year-old Jose Munoz waived his right to a preliminary hearing in a Milwaukee County court on Tuesday, October 15th.

Munoz is charged with one count of felony murder-armed robbery in connection with a robbery attempt that took place at Kochanski's Beer Hall on Milwaukee's south side on August 16th. He was one of three people attempting to rob the tavern.

A 23-year-old Milwaukee man was shot and killed in the robbery attempt -- when the bar owner pulled a gun to defend himself and his customers. That man has been identified as Carmelo Matos-Arzola.

On Tuesday, the court indicated there was a plea deal in the works for Munoz. That might be worked out by November 19th, when Munoz is due back in court.
