Father of boy injured testifies in O'Donnell parking ramp case

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- There was emotional testimony Wednesday, October 16th from a father who watched a concrete panel fall, crushing a teenage boy. For the first time on Wednesday, Steve Wosinski discussed publicly the accident at the O'Donnell parking ramp that left a high school student dead in June of 2010.

"When I looked behind me I could see -- it looked like a wall falling off in mid-air coming down," Wosinski said.

Wosinski, his wife Amy and 15-year-old son Eric were walking towards Summerfest with Eric's friend -- 15-year-old Jared Kellner. Wosinski says he heard a loud scraping sound from above, and saw the two boys were under the falling concrete.

"Confused, scared, terrified. It was a loud noise and no one knew what was going on. It crushed him. It was like a movie. It just -- it just crushed them both," Wosinski said.

Wosinski had lost another son months before in a car accident, and on that day, as the group was walking to Summerfest, Wosinski thought he saw his other son get killed.

However, Eric Wosinski suffered just a broken leg and head gash.

That's when Wosinski said he tried to find Jared -- and that's when the testimony Wednesday became graphic. The Kellner family left the courtroom.

"I could see his hair. He was crushed. Like nothing I've ever seen. It was horrible. I lost it at that point. I became detached. I don't know how long it lasted. To me it lasted 10 seconds, but I had to start screaming 'oh God no. Please no.' I've never seen that. Nobody should have to see that," Wosinski said.

What Wosinski didn't know at the time was that his wife, Amy was seriously injured. Eventually, her left leg was partially amputated after a crushing injury.

This trial is expected to last weeks as a jury decides whether Milwaukee County, which owns and maintains the parking ramp is responsible, as well as a company called Advanced Cast Stone, which manufactured and installed the concrete panels is at fault, and what kind of damages should be paid out.
