13-year-old bicyclist struck by car Thursday in Brown Deer

BROWN DEER (WITI) -- Officials in Brown Deer on Thursday, October 17th were investigating a vehicle vs. bicyclist crash that occurred on North 60th Street at West Tower Ave.

It happened just before 5:00 p.m.

Officials say a 13-year-old male from Brown Deer was struck by a vehicle -- and say the vehicle stayed at the scene.

The vehicle's driver, a 25-year-old male from Brown Deer was headed northbound on North 60th Street, and the bicyclist was riding eastbound in the crosswalk from West Tower, crossing 60th Street.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His parents responded to the scene.

The driver was taken into custody for operating while suspended, failure to yield to a pedestrian or bicyclist in a crosswalk, operate after suspension of vehicle registration and operate a motor vehicle without insurance.  The driver was booked and released.
