Witness testifies in O'Donnell parking structure jury trial

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- She was one of the first on the scene when a 13-ton concrete panel fell from the O'Donnell parking garage, crushing to death 15-year-old Jared Kellner. Three years later, on Thursday, October 17th, the girl, who was just 16 at the time, told a jury what she saw that day.

Reanne Bagemehl was 16 when she witnessed what nobody ever wants to see. On June 24th, she was walking from Summerfest with her friends.

That's when Bagemehl saw a huge concrete panel fall to the ground from the O'Donnell parking structure.

A short time later, she became one of the first on the scene.

"I heard a nurse behind me scream 'I'm a nurse, I'm a nurse' and my immediate reaction was to run across the street and help whoever was there," Bagemehl said.

Bagemehl first went to Amy Wosinski, who's foot was crushed when the panel fell.

"She was bleeding extremely bad. The nurse was helping and I said 'what can I do, what can I do.' She said 'go help my son, go help my son,'" Bagemehl said.

Bagemehl then sat down next to Eric Wosinski, who had a broken leg and head wound. She said she tried to calm him down by talking.

Eric told her his best friend was killed -- still under the concrete.

Bagemehl says she stayed on the scene until all of the victims were taken by ambulance.

In the chaos, she knew she eventually had to leave, as workers started to recover Kellner's body.

'They actually started sledgehammering at the slate and a police officer looked at me and said, 'you've seen enough nightmares for the day. You need to go,'" Bagemehl said.

A week from Friday, the jury will actually take a trip to the site to see the O'Donnell parking structure near the Milwaukee Lakefront.
