Medical examiner investigates co-sleeping death of infant

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner is investigating the death of a one-month, ten-day-old infant that was "found co-sleeping with her mother and father."

Milwaukee firefighters were dispatched to a home near 17th and Galena on the city's north side just before 1:30 a.m. on Friday, October 18th.

The medical examiner's investigation report indicates the mother told an officer that the child "fell asleep upwards in the mother's arms in a bed." The baby's father was also in the bed when she was found to be "unresponsive." The father indicated he "performed two cycles of CPR" before emergency crews arrived at the home.

The child was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m. at the hospital to which she was transported. The infant had no known medical history or known allergies.
