Discovery World hosts 6th annual Star Wars Day

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Fans of the Star Wars saga joined forces for the 6th annual Star Wars Day at Discovery World near Milwaukee's lakefront on Saturday, October 19th.

The event offers fans an opportunity to familiarize themselves with favorites from three different groups.

"The three groups are the 501st Legion, which are all the bad guy characters. There's the Rebel Legion, which are all the good guy characters. And then there's the R2 Builders Group, which are miscellaneous little R2's and droids and all sorts of things," explained Paul Hayden of Discovery World.

Around 2,000 guests were expected during the event, along with over 60 costumed characters including 11-year-old Mya Reynolds, who dressed as Boba Fett.

"It's kind of like you're a bounty hunter and going around. It's really fun because I really like this costume. I mean, it's really fun to wear," said Reynolds.

Visitors also had a chance to view the Kenosha Lego Users Group display showing off R2D2 and a variety of other scenes.

"You name it, it's within our layout and so anything you're interested in, you can get inspiration and see how you might want to build something yourself," said group member Chris Eyerly.

Organizers of the event say two dollars from every general admission ticket sold is being donated to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
