All lanes on Hwy. 33 near Decorah Rd. reopen after fatal crash

TOWN OF TRENTON (WITI) — A 42-year-old Newburg woman was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 33 near Decorah Rd. early Tuesday, October 22nd.

Police say a vehicle operated by a 41-year-old Milwaukee woman was eastbound on Hwy. 33 just after 5 a.m. when her vehicle entered a curve and crossed left of center into the westbound lane. The vehicle collided head-on with a westbound vehicle being operated by the Newburg woman.

The Newburg woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Medical Examiner.

The Milwaukee woman was transported to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life with serious injuries.

Newburg FD and Rescue responded to the scene. Hwy 33 was closed to traffic for approximately 4.four-and-a-half hours.

The reason for the eastbound vehicle operating left of center is undetermined at this time. The investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team is continuing.
