Jury views O'Donnell Garage concrete panel that killed 15-year-old

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Jurors in the lengthy O'Donnell Parking Garage trial left the court room on Thursday, October 24th to view the 13-ton concrete panel that fell from the structure killing 15-year-old Jared Kellner on June 24th, 2010.

After being asked on the stand whether some cracks in the parking garage had anything to do with the architectural panel falling from the wall, Engineer John Goetter testified that he believed they were unrelated.

After hearing testimony about the structural integrity of the garage Thursday morning, jurors were able to view the key piece of evidence with their own eyes, taking in the panel's mammoth size, broken rebar rods and cracks in the concrete.

The jury will decide whether Milwaukee County, which owns and maintains the parking structure, or Advanced Cast Stone, the company that attached the panel, is at fault.

Jurors will also determine how much the affected families will be awarded in damages.

The trial began last week and is scheduled to last until November 22nd.
