Racine man charged in first degree sexual assault of a child

RACINE (WITI) -- Officials in Racine have charged 37-year-old Juan Nicanor of Racine with three counts of first degree child sexual assault (contact with a child under 13) in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl.

The sexual assaults allegedly occurred between January and March of 2007.

Nicanor is accused of sexually assaulting a girl who is now 17, but was 12 or 13 at the time of the alleged sexual assault.

The sexual assaults reportedly occurred at a home in the 1800 block of Howe Street in Racine, according to a criminal complaint in the case.

A complaint in the case says the girl told officials Nicanor had physical sexual contact with her, including following her upstairs and pushing her to the floor, before touching her on top of and underneath her clothing. The girl told officials Nicanor tried to pull off her pants, but she was able to fight back, according to the complaint.

The complaint says later, Nicanor apologized to the girl for what had happened.

In another incident, the complaint indicates girl told officials she was in her bedroom watching TV when Nicanor entered and pulled down her clothes and his clothes, and attempted to have sexual intercourse with her. The girl screamed, and Nicanor left the room, according to the complaint.

This incident reportedly happened while the girl's mother was with the girl's brother at the hospital after he had suffered a broken arm, according to the complaint.

In another incident, the complaint says the Nicanor attempted to tie up the girl's hands with rope and have sexual intercourse with her. The girl began screaming and her brothers came upstairs to see what was going on, according to the complaint.

At that point, Nicanor told the girl if she ever told anyone, he would blame it on her, and tell everyone that she wanted the sexual activity, according to the complaint.

When interviewed, Nicanor told officials he "did something wrong," according to the complaint.

The girl's mother told officials Nicanor had told her "he knew it was wrong, but he could not stop."
