(CNN) -- Cute video alert! Pope Francis got an unexpected visitor on stage during a recent speech.

Addressing a packed house at the Vatican, a small boy stood by Pope Francis' side -- eventually running over and hugging the Pontiff's leg.

The Pope responded with an affectionate pat on the head.

At one point, one of the Pope's aides tried to coax the boy offstage with candy, the boy accepted the attempted bribe, but stayed by the Pope's side to wave to the crowd.
