Search is on for thieves who stole commercial pizza oven

DARIEN (WITI) -- The Walworth County Sheriff's Office is looking for the public's help in its search for two vehicles suspected that may have been used in the theft of a large commercial pizza oven from a Town of Darien restaurant.

Officials say on Thursday, October 17th, the pizza oven had been removed from Johnny Angel's Pizzeria & Pub Restaurant on Hwy. X due to renovations inside the building. The oven was in the parking lot.

Video surveillance shows at 3:51 p.m. what appears to be a full-sized pickup truck leaving the property with half of the pizza oven loaded in the bed of it. Leaving directly behind the truck appears to be either a Ford Taurus or a Mercury Sable station wagon. The video shows both vehicles headed South on Hwy. X towards I-43 from the business.

At 5:56 p.m., the same truck is observed on video leaving the business with the other half of the pizza oven loaded in the bed of it.

On Monday, October 28th, a contractor working at the business returned from his dinner break and located half of the stolen pizza oven in the parking lot of the business.

The business owner states that due to the size and weight of the pizza oven there had to be several people involved in the theft of it.
