Seven-year-old boy struck by vehicle Saturday in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- Officials in Mount Pleasant say a child was struck by a vehicle on Saturday afternoon, November 9th.

It happened just after 2:00 p.m. in the 3000 block of Gates Street in the Village of Mount Pleasant.

Officials say a seven-year-old boy suffered a cut to his leg/knee area. The boy was apparently playing with friends and ran into the roadway.

The driver, Janice Cochrum of Racine, remained at the scene. That driver observed the child suddenly dart into the roadway and tried to avoid the child.

Officials say the child ran into the side of the vehicle and fell to the pavement.

The child was treated at the scene.

No citations were issued to the driver.
