Committee votes unanimously to add 100 new taxi cabs

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The City of Milwaukee's Public Safety Committee voted unanimously on Tuesday, November 19th to recommend an ordinance that would add 100 new taxi cabs to the city. The vote was 5-0.

The ordinance is meant to improve taxicab service and to better ensure taxicab service availability throughout Milwaukee.

Earlier this year, a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge ruled the City of Milwaukee’s taxicab ordinance, which set a cap on taxicab permits, violated the State’s constitution.

The ordinance will go before the full Common Council on Tuesday, November 26th.
