Man suing diet pill manufacturer after going into coma

HAWAII (CNN) -- A Hawaii man who went into a coma after taking diet pills is now suing the manufacturer. It's one of the first known lawsuits tied to the pill OxyElite Pro.

22-year-old Kenneth Waikki has to take daily cocktails of medication, check his own vitals and has endless doctors appointments. This, following a liver transplant at 22-years-old.

The Kailua-Kona man started to feel sick in August -- on month after taking the new formula of OxyElite Pro -- a diet pill that has since been recalled.

His parents took him to the hospital and within weeks he was in a coma, and desperately needing a new liver. On September 30, in the middle of the night, the family got the news they were waiting for -- a donor liver was on its way from California.

Now, the 22-year-old man is suing the diet pill manufacturer.
