Shoppers eager for the opening of the "Mayfair Collection"

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- As development of the Mayfair Collection, southeastern Wisconsin's newest shopping experience, continues, shoppers say they're more than ready to do business with the retailers.

Progress on the center, located off Highway 45 North near the Burleigh exit, looks promising with the opening scheduled in just about six months.

The development stands in sharp contrast to the old Roundy's warehouse structure.

Illinois-based HSA Commercial Retail Group is developing the Mayfair Collection.

"It was very difficult for us to convince tenants that we could pull off the transformation in a way that would be suitable, at least in their eyes, for a shopping center-environment -- but as you can see, we pulled it off," said Managing Director Tim Blum.

The project has already included infrastructural improvements benefiting the entire area. Upon its completion, the Mayfair Collection will offer more than 250,000 square feet of retail shopping space -- including Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off 5th, Dick's Sporting Good and Old Navy.

"They're best in class retailers that may have their only store in the entire state," said Blum. "We're very happy. We've made a lot of progress."

The Mayfair Collection is set to open in April 2014.
