One dead, one arrested following crash in Town of Merton

TOWN OF MERTON (WITI) — A 31-year-old Town of Merton man is dead following a single-vehicle traffic accident that occurred early Friday morning, November 22nd on Center Oak Road in the area of Dobbertin Road.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department and the Town of Merton Fire Department responded to the crash just after 2:00 a.m.

The initial investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound on Center Oak Road when the driver failed to negotiate a turn in the road at Dobbertin Road, and struck a tree.

When officials arrived on the scene they transported the driver and one passenger to Waukesha Memorial Hospital. The passenger, a 31-year-old man from the Town of Merton was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver was arrested for homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
