Packers Thanksgiving Day loss puts bad taste in fans' mouths

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It was a disappointing start to the Thanksgiving Day celebration on Thursday, November 28th for folks who decided to take in the Packers vs. Lions game in Detroit.

The Packers struggled Thursday without QB Aaron Rodgers, and the final score of the game was 40-10.

The Packers have not won a game in five weeks, and are now 5-6-1.

Prior to the Thanksgiving Day matchup, some Packers fans said a loss at Detroit this week would signal the end of the Packers season -- as the loss would mean it would be extremely difficult if not impossible for the team to make the playoffs.

FOX6's Rachelle Baillon took in the game with Packers fans at Coach's Pub 'N Grill in Milwaukee. The restaurant was serving up Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday -- and the turkey platter came with a side of big screen televisions showing the Packers vs. Lions matchup.

"We have a lot of people that are single or have just a few people in their family and have nowhere else to go, so they come here," said Sue Sowlles, a cook at Coach's Pub 'N' Grill.

Despite the delicious food and drinks that may have made Thursday's loss sting a little less -- some fans FOX6 News spoke with found it difficult to think of something they are thankful for when it comes to the Green Bay Packers this season.

There seems to be an overwhelming agreement among Packers fans -- We NEED Aaron Rodgers healthy, and back on the playing field.

The hope is that most folks waited until AFTER the Packers vs. Lions game to take in their Thanksgiving dinner, in the hopes that the food and a nice post-feast nap would help to distract Packers diehards from the tough loss Thursday.

If not, fans could always drown their sorrow in Thanksgiving gravy!
