Milwaukee Wave take on Missouri Comets on Friday the 13th

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- On Friday the 13th, the Milwaukee Wave hope to continue their winning streak against a familiar opponent.

The Wave travel to Independence, Missouri to take on the Missouri Comets at 7:35 p.m. The Wave have faced the Comets in four of the last eight games, dating back to last season.

The Wave and Comets met in last year’s semi-finals. After the Wave took Game 1 in Missouri, the Comets won a pair of 1-goal games at the U.S. Cellular Arena to advance to the MISL Finals. This season, the Wave and Comets met in the season opener. The Comets squandered a 6-point lead in the final five minutes of the game, as the Wave were able to score three goals in the final five minutes of the game to force overtime. In overtime, Ian Bennett capped his stat-sheet filling night with his fifth goal, the overtime game-winner.

The Wave have continued to win, including a pair of wins over the defending champion Baltimore Blast, both in impressive fashion. On November 23rd in Baltimore, the Wave shut out the Blast in an 8-0 victory. This past weekend, the Wave came back from a 10-2 second half deficit to score the final 10 points. F Carlos Munoz scored his third goal of the night with 20 seconds left in the game.

Munoz was named MISL Player of the Week, pacing the Wave’s comeback victory. He is the third player from the Wave to earn MISL Player of the Week (F Ian Bennett – Week 1, GK Nick Vorberg – Week 2). A Wave player has earned Player of the Week honors in each week the Wave had at least one matchup.

Following Friday’s game, the Wave have a two week break, followed by back-to-back home games. The Wave will face the St. Louis Ambush on Saturday, December 28th at 6:00pm CT, sponsored by West Bend. The Wave then host the Syracuse Silver Knights at 2:00pm on New Year’s Eve.
