WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- West Allis police are investigating a shooting and armed robbery that occurred at a gas station near 60th and National in West Allis early Monday morning, December 16th -- and are seeking two suspects. A reward has been offered in this case by the West Allis/West Milwaukee Crime Stoppers.
According to officials, police responded to the scene around 1:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, they located a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The victim, who was an employee at the gas station, was transported to Froedtert Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Ashok Singh is an employee of the gas station and says he was in the cooler as the pair entered the store.
"Two guys -- young guys. One guy hold the door open and one guy came here and he said -- they ask for money. He opened the register and give register here and said 'take all the money.' They took about $200," Singh said.
Singh says the shooting occurred after one suspect had the money.
"After he took the money, he walked and then he shoot him. I opened the door and he was bleeding here, so I said 'what happened?' He said 'somebody shoot me.' He was in very critical condition," Singh said.
Police are not releasing the victim's name at this time.
The suspected shooter is described as an African-American male of medium height and build. This suspect is described as wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with white dots, gray pants, white shoes and a white mask.
The second suspect is described as an African-American male of medium build and height. Police say he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and a white mask.
Police have obtained surveillance video from the scene, and have been coming through it for any clues that would lead to the suspects in this case.
The gas station's owner, Aquil Malik says thankfully, the victim in this case didn't lose his life.
"It's really shameful. For a few dollars -- the life is more important than the dollars -- even getting the money and then he shot him. It's not understandable," Malik said.
The West Allis/West Milwaukee Crime Stoppers is offering a monetary reward for information leading to the arrest of the offender in this incident.
