Aaron Rodgers still not medically cleared to play this week

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy says quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still not medically cleared to play this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. That word came during a news conference on early Wednesday afternoon, December 18th.

“Aaron Rodgers update. He’s doing better. He’s still not been cleared by the medical staff. He threw the ball extremely well. He looked sharp. He’s getting better,” Packers Coach Mike McCarthy said on Wednesday following practice, according to Packers.com.

Rodgers has been sidelined since he suffered a collarbone fracture in a game against the Bears in early November. Rodgers has missed six-and-three-quarters games — and the Pack has struggled without him.

However, the Detroit Lions lost on Monday night — so if Green Bay wins its two remaining regular season games, the Packers will be NFC North Division champions.

Following that incredible comeback victory we saw this past Sunday — when the Green Bay Packers defeated the Dallas Cowboys 37-36, the Packers this week take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the regular season home finale.

Last week, Green Bay overcame a 23-point halftime deficit (26-3) in the win over the Cowboys on Sunday, matching the biggest comeback in team history (down 23 vs. Los Angeles Rams, Sept. 12, 1982, won 35-23).

Kickoff this Sunday is set for 3:25 p.m. at Lambeau Field.
