NEW YORK (CNN) — A fuel tanker flipped on its side and caught fire late Tuesday on Long Island, New York police said.

The fire caused an undetermined amount of damage to parked cars and property along Sunrise Highway in Bellmore, according to a statement from the Nassau County Police Department.

The fuel truck rear-ended a vehicle at a stop light before tumbling onto its side, police said.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
