MILWAUKEE (WITI) — A 33-year-old Hales Corners woman is facing a second-degree recklessly endangering safety charge after she narrowly avoided striking a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputy while driving the wrong-way on I-43 near Chase Avenue.

Alicia Sulok

Alicia Sulok made her first court appearance Wednesday, December 18th. Sulok nearly struck the deputy while traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-43 on Saturday, December 14th.

According to the criminal complaint, the deputy spotted Sulok traveling the wrong-way without her headlights on around 2:30 a.m. At that time, the deputy re-routed to parallel the driver and caught up near Howard Ave. The complaint indicates Sulok stopped for a moment and then continued to Edgerton Avenue before stopping again.

Upon making contact with Sulok, the deputy detected a strong odor of intoxicants on her breath and asked to perform field sobriety tests. Sulok tested a .18 on the PBT.

DOT video shows Sulok drove the wrong-way on I-43 for approximately six miles before being pulled over.

Sulok was released on a signature bond Wednesday. If convicted, she could face up to $25,000 in fines and ten years in prison.

How close is “nearly hit”- because if you go by what they consider a near miss on the tv show America’s Most Wanted, that could be anywhere from 20-400 feet.

  • Okay...

Wasn’t there another girl like a year ago who had this same issue? They never threw the book at her and now here we go again…

  • none

I saw her FB page too. I can’t believe how much she was smiling when they led her into the courtroom for her hearing. she was probably thinking to herself “I didn’t kill anybody, what’s the worst they’re gonna do to me?”

not in her defense or anything but that was the sunday we had the snowstorm with all the pile ups on the highways. i felt a cold beer was in order after that white knuckle ride as well…only idiots drive drunk a cab is probably 30 bucks very well worth it when you consider the possibility of killing innocent people on the roadways.

and the smile on her face in court is because she and everybody knows what a joke the wisconsin court system is. full of plea deals and stayed sentences with little or no jail time. read ccap sometime its full of sentence is stayed defendant placed on probation with a short stay at the huber facility a.k.a milwaukee county bed and breakfast

Ya’ll act like she’s the only one that has done this. She’s not. She made a huge mistake. And obviously she’s going to deal with the consequences. So stop adding the stupid comments. And also why stoop so low to check out her facebook profile page?! That’s so immature. Let her deal with this and not put her on blast even more. There’s always more to the story then you know anyways. Especially on facebook.

even the news made comment about her smiling saying that “mabye she doesnt understand the charges against her” for some people smiling is a response to a stressor. yes what she did isnt excusable, yes the courts are a joke, but not sure thats the reason she was smiling.

  • Xright

um, Really, cant we get over this already? all this for a drunk driver? i am tired of it pasted all over the news. Nothing happened. I am glad she is smiling y not.

  • Xright

and you peole really go running looking up her FB page?!? holy loservile. get a life of your own my God. And no I dont know this woman but really, had we not a copper video in where she didnt almost hit him this would never be talked about. lets spend time concerning ourselves with the really tragic issues like O-Care and how this is my generations “great depression”

  • Amanda

Actually I know this woman and that’s all she does is smile. No matter what life throws at her she shows those pearly whites. She is not smiling because she thinks she’s going to get away with anything or because she doesn’t care. It just who she is.
