Vigil held for George Webb shooting victim Reggie Evans

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Friends and family of 21-year-old Reggie Evans gathered for a small vigil Saturday, December 21st, outside the George Webb restaurant where the man was shot and killed.

Evans was killed early Friday morning after attempting to remove a group of disorderly customers from the restaurant on N. Oakland Ave. The group eventually left but a 28-year-old man returned with a handgun and shot Evans in the chest.

Evans died at the scene.

"We come together in memory of him and try and put an end to some of the senseless crimes that are happening to innocent people," said Evans' cousin Charlie Jones. "That's all we can hope for -- to try and stop this madness that's happening in this here city."

Loved ones say they aren't surprised Evans stepped in to try to keep the peace in his workplace.

"He was in there trying to do his thing, trying to do what he had to do," said Evans' friend Charles Blunt.

Friday night, police arrest a 28-year-old man they believe to be responsible for the shooting. He is expected to be officially charged at some point next week.
