Milwaukee police officer fires shot near 11th and Manitoba St.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are searching for a suspect who pointed a pistol at an officer after fleeing from a traffic stop Friday night, December 27th.

The incident began around 8:10 p.m. when an officer stopped a vehicle. Three people fled from the vehicle, prompting an officer pursuit.

One of the fleeing suspects turned around and pointed a pistol at the officer. The officer then fired one round at the suspect but did not hit the man. The suspect continued to flee.

Several other squads and officers, including K-9 units, were dispatched to the scene in an attempt to contain the suspects.

Officers were able to apprehend and arrest the two other people inside the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. The suspect who pointed the gun at the officer has not been located.

A lieutenant with the department says since the officer did not hit the suspect this case is not considered an officer-involved shooting, but a use of force incident.
