Purple Heart Pass Programs wraps up successful first year

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Purple Heart Pass Program wrapped up a successful first year, handing out more than 350 passes to wounded veterans across the state.

The Purple Heart Pass Program is a first of-its-kind initiative that was started in 2013 by Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele and the Milwaukee County Veterans Service Office (MCVSO). Pass holders get free admission into a number of private and public venues in Milwaukee County and across the state, including the Harley Davidson Museum, Discovery World and the Milwaukee County Zoo. The value of the pass is more than $200.

Any veteran in Wisconsin who has received a Purple Heart decoration is eligible for the pass.
