Milwaukee police investigate death of three-month-old baby

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned Milwaukee police are investigating the death of a baby.

Milwaukee police say it is a three-month-old baby -- and say the death appears suspicious at this time.

It happened in the 1200 block of E. Howard Avenue on Sunday morning, January 12th.

FOX6 News spoke with family members of the baby, but the baby's grandmother was too upset to go on camera, and other relatives wouldn't say much either.

Daniel Dipietro was at the scene on Sunday. He says he coached one of the family's other children in football.

"All I can tell you is they're a good, hard-working American family," Dipietro said.

Dipietro says the family has two other children -- whom he believes are 12 and seven -- both boys.

Dipietro stopped at the gas station on Sunday morning, and that's when he noticed all of the police vehicles.

He is now asking anyone who knows the family to be there for them right now.

"If you can support this family in any way, I recommend it highly. The stepdad works nothing but 14 hours a day," Dipietro said.

Sources tell FOX6 News MPD's Detective Bureau is looking into the child's death.
