DMV launches mobile commercial driver knowledge test app

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is introducing a commercial driver license (CDL) practice test application.

This new mobile app allows drivers studying for the CDL knowledge test to use their smart phones to test themselves and stay sharp and up to date on basic commercial driver safety. DMV notes that using the mobile app should not be viewed as a substitute for studying the recently updated Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s Manual.

“The Commercial Driver License practice test app is a great way to prepare anyone taking the written driver test for the real thing. Many of our customers have smart phones, so this allows us to deliver information through their preferred communication device. We hope this app will significantly increase test success for new commercial drivers in our state,” notes DMV administrator Patrick Fernan. “It is a great resource for those looking for a career in commercial driving. Use it together with the Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s Manual to be better prepared.”

The app is currently available in the iTunes store under “WI DMV Commercial Driver Practice Test,” and can be downloaded to both an iPhone and iPad at no cost. An Android version can be found at Google Play.

Users take a quick 15 question multiple choice test and can review their scores instantly. Test takers can see what questions were incorrect and reference the correct answer. They can also share test scores to different social media platforms. Users have the ability to retake the test as many times as desired and track their scores over time.
