MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Potawatomi Hotel is still months away from opening in the Menomonee Valley -- but on Monday, February 10th, FOX6 News got a look inside.

The only people at the hotel on Monday were workers braving the cold to put together the 18-story structure.

"The building is entirely enclosed. We're heated on the inside. The contractors are working diligently on all of the interior finishes," Potawatomi Director of Facilities David Brien said.

While the hotel is still several months from opening, FOX6 News on Monday got a sneak peek as to what guests will experience when visiting the hotel.

Those overseeing the project say mock rooms, which are on display a few blocks from the hotel site will go a long way towards making sure the finished product is flawless.

"There's only so much you can see in a two-dimensional print. Once you get it three-dimensional, you can see some other conflicts or you can see some things you didn't like," Brien said.

Monday's tour provided a glimpse of the 16 suites, the 361 rooms and even the hallways. The suites stand out -- if only because of the technology inside.

One of the features of the suites that is not on display in the mock rooms are televisions that will be in the bathroom mirrors, so when you're getting ready in the morning, you can watch something like FOX6 WakeUp!

While plenty of work remains before anyone can sleep in the actual rooms, Monday provided a glimpse into the $150 million project coming to the Menomonee Valley.

"To be able to do the mock room really allows you to see, touch, feel, everything that was laid out and allows you to add function to form - because before, it was just form," Potawatomi Hotel Director Hassan Abdel-Moneim said.

Potawatomi says the hotel will create about 230 jobs. Most of the hiring for those jobs will not happen until around May or June.

There is no set date for the hotel's grand opening, but it is expected to open in Fall of 2014.
