Jon Richards talks about his candidacy for Attorney General

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Democrat Jon Richards, a candidate for the state's attorney general position was answering questions about his candidacy on Wednesday, February 12th.

Richards was the guest at the Milwaukee Press Club luncheon.

Richards has been a state legislator since 1999.

On Wednesday, he talked about the reasoning he had for running for attorney general.

"I think the office can do some great good in Wisconsin. When it became an open seat,  that's something I wanted to make sure that we took a hard look at. I discussed it with my family and the time was right," Richards said.

Richards is facing fellow Democrat, Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne in a primary.

Right now, there is only one Republican in the race -- Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel.
