Charley Gargano sentenced to two year probation

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee County judge sentenced Charley Gargano to two years probation on Tuesday, February 18th.

Gargano is the Marquette University lacrosse player accused of dropping acid and punching a female public safety officer.

Prosecutors believe Gargano took multiple hits of LSD at the Rave on a Saturday in September. Then back on campus, he allegedly punched the safety officer in the face twice. Her injuries included a broken orbital bone and a nasal fracture. She also needed eight stitches above her eye.

In court on Tuesday, Gargano pleaded guilty to the three charges against him. A sentence on the count of substantial battery was withheld. On the misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct charges, the judge sentenced Gargano to six months in the House of Correction -- and then stayed that sentence. He was sentenced then to two years of probation.
