Driver who slammed into school bus in Kenosha doing better

KENOSHA COUNTY (WITI) -- FOX6 News has received an update on a man seriously injured after his vehicle slammed into a school bus on Highway 45 in Kenosha County on Thursday, March 6th.

35-year-old Shawn Hudon, from the Village of Paddock Lake was initially taken to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life, and was listed in critical condition in Froedtert's ICU.

We have learned Hudon remains in the hospital -- but he is now in stable condition, and could be moved to a regular care hospital room soon.

Kenosha County Sheriff's deputies have issued Hudon a traffic citation for inattentive driving.

Sheriff's officials say evidence suggests Hudon swerved just prior to impacting the rear of the bus. Sheriff's officials say this suggests Hudon's attention was averted and then regained just before impact.

Sheriff's officials say Hudon's blood samples were collected, though they not not necessarily suspect any impairment.

Results from blood tests will not be available for several weeks.

The school bus was dropping off a Westosha High School student at the time of the wreck. The bus driver and that one student were on board the bus -- but were not hurt.

The preliminary investigation shows the school bus had activated the red stop lights in order to make a stop on Hwy. 45 The driver of the bus was about to activate the stop arm of the bus when the bus was rear ended by the car.
