Charges issued against Milwaukee felon for gun, drug possession

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County District Attorney has charged a 57-year-old Milwaukee felon for gun and drug possession.

Officers from District 5 of the Milwaukee Police Department arrested Charles Adams following a March 7 incident in the 2000 block of W. Capitol Drive. According to the criminal complaint, officers stopped the car Adams was a passenger in due to an expired registration.

As officers approached the car, they noticed Adams make reaching movements as if to obtain or conceal something under the seat. Officers asked Adams to step out of the car so they could search him and discovered more than six grams of marijuana.

A further search of the car yielded a .32 caliber semi-automatic pistol. Adams was taken into custody and at the police station officers found bags of cocaine in his possession.

Adams is a convicted felon with a previous conviction of Possession of Cocaine. He has been charged with Possession of Firearm by a Felon, Possession of THC, and Possession of Cocaine and faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted.
