Man in custody after hours-long standoff near 35th & Hampton

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Law enforcement officials on were on the scene of a standoff on Thursday afternoon and evening, March 13th near 35th and Hampton. Eventually, a 47-year-old man was taken away in handcuffs. Police sources tell FOX6 News the man was wanted on several warrants.

On the scene Thursday were squad cars, Sheriff's vehicles and the kind with heavy armor -- and officers carrying high-powered weapons.

Tristan Robinson says officers were there to serve an arrest warrant on his friend.

"I was the one who answered the door. They said 'Milwaukee police' -- they was here on a warrant. He didn't cooperate. (There were) a lot of guns. (There were) about 20, 15, 10 (squad cars). There's a lot," Robinson said.

Robinson says police have been to the home before. This time, they were there on a felony warrant.

"Here we go again. That's all that comes to my mind," Robinson said.

Robinson didn't share much with FOX6 News about his friend's past.

"I'm just so bothered by this. I mean, I don't care to talk no more," Robinson said.

As frustrations built and night fell, the standoff came to an end. A man was handcuffed and taken away.

Not long after that, neighbors took back their neighborhood.

"I'm better now that everything is cleared up and taken care of," one neighbor told FOX6 News.

The identity of the man taken into custody has not been released.
