Over $1 million raised by 8:00 p.m. on Match Day 2014

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Greater Milwaukee Foundation -- organizers of Match Day say over $1 million was raised by 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13th.

To be exact, $1,725,326 in online funds has been raised.

All day on Match Day -- folks had the opportunity to strengthen the capacity of 20 food and shelter agencies in southeastern Wisconsin that are working hard to meet the increased demand from individuals and families.

Each gift made online will be matched, and that generosity will be multiplied to benefit the participating agencies.

    The Greater Milwaukee Foundation is a family of nearly 1,200 individual charitable funds, each created by donors to serve the charitable causes of their choice.

    Grants from these funds serve people throughout Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties and beyond.

    Started in 1915, the Foundation is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the world.
