Germantown wins 3rd straight Div. 1 title, 48-42

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — LaMonte Bearden and Brian Bearden each scored 13 points to lead Germantown to a 48-42 victory over Neenah on Saturday, giving the Warhawks their third consecutive Division 1 state championship.

Germantown (27-2), which had its 69-game winning streak snapped earlier this season, scored the first four points of a slow-paced fourth quarter, taking a 40-32 lead on a tip-in by Evan Wesenberg.

Matt Heldt, a 6-foot-10 junior, scored Neenah's first points of the fourth quarter on short turnaround in the lane to make 40-34 with 1:52 left.

Trevor Entwisle kept the Rockets alive with a pair of 3-pointers in the final minute, the second of which cut the lead to 45-42 with 18 seconds remaining. After Brian Bearden hit the second of two free throws to make it 46-42, Entwisle buried an apparent 3-pointer from the top of the key, but was called for traveling.

Entwisle had 14 points and Heldt 10 for Neenah (27-2).
