NCAA basketball floor assembled by Waukesha company

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- March Madness got crazier in Wisconsin when the Wisconsin Badgers landed a number 2 seed -- and a showcase game in Milwaukee on Thursday, March 20th.

Jason Heiman is the athletic manager at Schmidt Custom Flooring in Waukesha. He and his team were at the BMO Harris Bradley Center early Monday, March 17th to assemble the basketball court that will be featured in this week's NCAA games. Dozens of floor panels with NCAA decals were snapped and hammered in place.

"This is 'thee' floor, so it's special to be a part of it," said Heiman. "We do a lot of work for UW-Whitewater, Edgewood College. We did local Alverno College here."

It's been several years since March Madness came to Milwaukee. The next year up for grabs is 2016.

As for now, the Wisconsin Badgers will face off against #15 seed American University Thursday at 11:40 a.m.
