Police investigate assault allegation involving Concordia students

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- FOX6 News is learning Milwaukee police are investigating a sexual assault allegation involving three Concordia University students, who are also former athletes. The sexual assault allegedly occurred on Water Street in downtown Milwaukee.

A source tells FOX6 News the sexual assault occurred inside a bar in the area of Juneau Avenue and Water Street. A 23-year-old woman claims three men played a part in the sexual assault.

The woman described the men as Concordia University students -- formerly athletes, who are in their early 20s.

Concordia University has issued a statement to FOX6 News saying they are cooperating with investigators:

"The university is deeply saddened by the allegations and understands that this is an alleged incident that occurred off campus. However, due to the nature of the allegations, the university has begun its own investigation into the incident, an dwill take the appropriate actions."

School officials say all the facts need to be uncovered before the school responds.

The investigation into this alleged incident is ongoing.

FOX6 News has reached out to the prosecutor's office -- which has yet to receive this case. That means it is unclear at this point when or if charges will be filed.
