Waukesha Co. authorities investigate groping incident in Wales



VILLAGE OF WALES (WITI) -- Waukesha County authorities believe they have the man responsible for accosting a teenager in the Village of Wales on Monday afternoon, March 31st.

The crime took many residents by surprise. It happened shortly after school hours to a 14-year-old student in the Kettle Moraine School District.

According to police, the 14-year-old girl was approached and inappropriately touched by a man around 3:45 p.m. while she was walking on N. Elias Street between Oakcrest Drive and Main Street. The girl was able to get away and run to safety. She was not hurt.

Diana Markus, owner of Mama D's, heard about the incident as she was opening up her coffee shop at the corner.

"Some students came in and said that it had been announced through the school district," said Markus.

Authorities say around 6 a.m. Tuesday, April 1st, they received information leading to a person of interest in this incident. Police say they are currently conducting interviews and are no longer looking for a suspect.
